Love Coffee

This small black and red converted garage serves very decent coffees, cold pressed fruit juices, smoothies, hot chocolates (Madagascan cocoa and White Hot chocolate) and one or two teas. But what makes this such a popular spot is the great flavours of both its food and drinks. On a recent trip I was talked into trying Kombucha, a fermented tea with medicinal properties made to a 2 000 year old recipe.
The slightly fizzy drink is served cold and the yeasty smell reminded me of old fashioned ginger beer without the ginger (dad used to make it and let the raisins ferment for days). Kombucha is very refreshing and I can’t remember all the health properties, but just ask next time you pop into Love coffee – the proprietor is happy to explain.
In addition to the drinks there is a selection of vegan and vegetarian nibbles to enjoy with your coffee or take home. By late afternoon the display cabinet and fridge are usually pretty empty. The afternoon I was there only date balls ( updates with coconut and almond) and rusks (life’s about taking rusks) were left over.
On a cold rainy day with the doors half closed I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, but most regulars will agree that it is worth spilling out onto the pavement with your cup clutched in your hand just to enjoy the good coffee, good vibe and very efficient service. So many drivers sporting the instantly recognisable Love Coffee logo on their cars can’t be wrong.
